About Michael MacCurtain
I am a workforce development, governance and community leadership professional based in Limerick.
Through my work with Limerick Chamber Skillnet and my wider involvement across education, business, community and public service, I focus on helping people, organisations and places build capability, confidence and long-term resilience.
My work is grounded in practical collaboration. I am interested in bringing people together, understanding what is needed, and turning ideas into action that makes a real difference for Limerick and the wider Mid-West region.
Workforce Development & Skills
As Network Manager of Limerick Chamber Skillnet, I work with businesses and partner organisations to support training, upskilling and workforce development across the region.
This includes helping employers respond to changing skills needs, supporting employees to access relevant learning opportunities, and working with stakeholders across business, education and public bodies to strengthen regional skills capacity.
My focus is on practical, employer-led learning that supports business performance, career development and lifelong learning.
Governance & Community Leadership
I contribute to a range of education, community and governance bodies across Limerick and the Mid-West.
These roles include involvement in education and training, school governance, lifelong learning, community development, financial inclusion, youth development, industry collaboration and local civic initiatives.
Across these roles, I aim to bring a practical, constructive and collaborative approach helping organisations make good decisions, strengthen their impact and stay focused on the people and communities they serve.
Public Service & Regional Development
I care deeply about Limerick and its future.
My work and voluntary commitments are shaped by a belief that strong places are built through education, skills, enterprise, community participation and effective public service.
I am particularly interested in how Limerick can continue to grow as a confident, inclusive and ambitious city and region, one that supports opportunity, values lifelong learning, and brings people, communities and institutions together around shared progress.
